Mattress Warranty

The term "WARRANTY" refers to restoring conformity, at no cost to the customer, through repair or replacement of the mattress or its components in case of defects acknowledged by the manufacturer, which may occur within 5 years (2 years of legal warranty + 3 years of additional warranty) from the product's delivery date.

Warranty Management

The subject of the complaint will be examined, and if acknowledged, it will be repaired or replaced free of charge with the same item or, if out of production, with a similar one available at the time of replacement, according to the latest catalog revision. Any components replaced will have a legal warranty of 2 years starting from the moment of replacement. Dorelan does not recognize any other types of warranties beyond this one.

For In-Store Purchases

The point of contact for reporting and managing complaints is always the retailer where the purchase was made, appointed by Dorelan to ascertain manufacturing defects; intervention methods will then be agreed upon between the retailer and the manufacturer. Dorelan will activate the warranty only upon specific request from the retailer. Any extraordinary concessions different from those established in this warranty will be the sole responsibility of the retailer. Dorelan declines any responsibility for any damages caused to persons, property, or animals resulting from failure to observe the prescriptions indicated in this document.

For Purchases on the Website www.dorelan.com (valid for items available online)

The point of contact for reporting and managing complaints is Dorelan, reachable through the channels provided on the website www.dorelan.com. Intervention methods will then be communicated directly to the customer through the same channels.

Warranty Validity

This warranty is recognized upon presentation of a fiscal purchase document complete with all its components (e.g., purchase date, retailer's business name, product details, etc.). The warranty is considered void in the following cases:

  • Compromised hygienic conditions
  • Subjective dissatisfaction with the product's performance and/or characteristics noticeable at the time of purchase (e.g., mattress too soft/firm, retains/disperses too much heat, etc.)
  • Transport or handling damages not contested at the time of delivery
  • Modification of the product or part of it (e.g., cutting the lining covering the mattress core)
  • Improper use of the product or negligence and carelessness in use and/or storage
  • Deterioration due to normal wear and tear or damages under the user's responsibility (e.g., holes, tears, etc.)
  • Use of mesh bases
  • Failure to follow the instructions in the Care and Maintenance Manual

Procedures That May Invalidate the Warranty

  • Bringing the mattress close to heat sources or open flames
  • Continuously exposing the mattress, or parts of it, to sunlight
  • Removing existing seams, or parts of them
  • Removing labels sewn onto the cover or protected by the inner lining for removable cover mattresses
  • Smoking in the environment where the mattress is located
  • Folding, rolling, and/or tightly tying the mattress for long periods
  • Jumping on the mattress
  • Using electric blankets and/or heating pads for prolonged periods
  • Staining the mattress or its components with aggressive chemicals and/or solvents
  • For removable cover products, washing the cover differently from what is indicated on the labels
  • Using an iron and/or hairdryer to dry the product or part of it
  • Using steam machines for mattress maintenance
  • Using high-power vacuum cleaners
  • Pouring liquids on the mattress
  • Storing the mattress in a humid or wet environment with or without sealed packaging
  • Performing interventions not explicitly described in this warranty

Initial Mattress Setting

The main components of the mattress, such as the fabric, padding wadding, and polyurethane, are characterized by high elasticity that ensures those unique ergonomic qualities of unsurpassed comfort. The elasticity of the materials allows the mattress surface to adapt to the stresses the product must handle, offering specific comfort. Over time, the mattress adapts to the person using it, creating slight flattening of the cover and/or a slight depression in the core at the points of greatest stress (e.g., hips, shoulders). This physiological characteristic can be guided to allow uniform and ergonomic settling of the padding materials:

  • In the first year of use, rotate the mattress (head - foot) every 4 months to uniformly settle the elastic material of which the product is made, except for "no flip" models.
  • Always flip (bottom - top) the mattress at each change of season (summer - winter).

Use the handles only for the initial installation of the mattress on the support base and for head-foot rotation. Do not use them for movements other than those indicated above (e.g., flipping bottom-top). For greater care and protection of the mattress, we suggest always using both a mattress protector, to be added under the sheets, and a base cover to be placed over the mattress support surface. This way, you avoid the mattress cover getting stained, dirty, absorbing moisture, and/or getting damaged.

Adaptation Period  When using products that interact closely with the person, such as a mattress, a variable period of subjective adaptation is necessary. It is important to note that mattress comfort can be influenced by:

  • The temperature in the room where the mattress is used.
  • The width of the mattress: a single mattress tends to feel slightly firmer than a double.
  • The type of mattress cover: a mattress with a bordered cover is slightly firmer than one with a removable cover.
  • The bed system the mattress is part of, particularly the support base, which can alter the product's response characteristics.

The company always ensures the consistency of the mattress’s comfort characteristics, as its Quality Management System (certified UNI EN ISO 9001:2015) regulates, standardises, and controls all business processes to guarantee product consistency.

How to Read the Label

All relevant information regarding the purchased product is provided on a label sewn onto the mattress edge. This label includes the following symbols:

Additional Details

Pilling

Pilling is a natural phenomenon where, on knitted coverings or certain fabric types, a surface layer of fuzz forms and then tangles into small clusters.

Bedding, such as sheets and/or mattress protectors, can contribute to pilling, as their fibres may bind with those of the mattress cover, accelerating or increasing the effect.

To reduce and slow down the formation of pilling on the mattress cover, it is recommended to use high-quality, 100% cotton bed linen with a thick texture and a smooth feel.

However, pilling is inevitable and results from normal product use.

Persistent Odour

Any odour emitted by a newly purchased mattress is typical and will gradually fade over time. The more frequently the mattress is aired, the faster this process will occur.

Fabric Pattern

Even for identical products, the mattress cover may feature non-identical patterns that do not repeat systematically or symmetrically.

This occurs because the fabric design continues along the length of the roll used in the cover’s production, meaning that the pattern may vary across individual covers.

Mould

Dorelan ensures strict hygiene checks on materials during production to maintain high-quality standards and prevent potential issues.

Analyses conducted on complaints related to mould have confirmed that these occurrences are exclusively due to external factors and not to production processes or materials used by Dorelan.

Therefore, any mould formation on the mattress or bed components is not attributable to the product itself but rather to improper environmental conditions or maintenance by the user.

To minimise the risk of mould, proper mattress aeration is essential.

Possible Causes of Mould Formation (indicative and non-exhaustive):

  • Environmental conditions: Poorly ventilated rooms, high humidity, inappropriate temperatures, or significant thermal fluctuations.
  • Insufficient maintenance: Failure to rotate the mattress periodically or to air it out after nightly use.
  • Non-breathable accessories: Use of mattress protectors or pillowcases made from non-breathable materials, which hinder proper ventilation.

Wear and Tear

Over time, slight signs of wear may appear due to normal product use. This is a natural process that does not compromise the mattress’s technical features or comfort.

Dimensional Tolerances

As upholstered products contain elastic materials, slight variations in dimensions may occur compared to the stated nominal measurements. This is a characteristic of the product's nature.

The company defines an acceptable tolerance for mattress dimensions of ±2 cm.

Settling and Indentations

During use, filling materials naturally settle, which should not be considered a defect.

Additionally, a tolerance of ±2 cm is acceptable. If, when measuring a completely uncovered mattress placed on a firm surface, the indentations exceed the established limits, they may be considered a defect, particularly in cases of excessive sagging.

Recycling and Waste Disposal

Once discarded, the mattress must be disposed of through authorised recycling and waste management channels.

The packaging materials must also be sorted for recycling according to the symbols indicated on the packaging itself. Always follow the local waste disposal regulations of your municipality.
